With a team of fellow Illustrators, we were commissioned to make a mural to be displayed at the front entrance display case in School 35 In suburban Rochester. We were asked to send in 2-3 designs for them to choose from with the theme “World Piece and Diversity”.

My design was one of the three sent to the school for consideration, though it was not chosen as the final. Here is documented the development process of ideas, and the final painting process.

The sketching process had a few factors to account for:

-capturing the “world peace and diversity” theme

-accounting for their school mascot, a bee

-The set dimensions of the two boards the mural will be transferred to

Bringing our final (color) sketches to the client, we had an in depth discussion of the culture of the school, the students’ demographic, and what the mural’s message was meant to be, as well as materials and logistics. A few weeks later, they chose my colleagues design, and we proceeded with the next and final step:
